Santa Monica Place

Originally designed by Frank Gehry, Santa Monica Place opened in 1980 and underwent renovations in 1990 and 1996.  This 557,000 square foot mall will undergo a transformation to become an outdoor shopping area.  We will convert Santa Monica Place to an outdoor mall in order to better connect with shoppers on the adjacent Third Street Promenade.  In addition to taking advantage of the area’s ocean views, the design will better reflect the interests of this unique community, as well as create a dynamic environment that makes the most of the urban, beachside setting.  The design will be completed in association with The Jerde Partnership of Los Angeles.
