Sustainable Design

LEED Certified Projects:

Sustainable Design Philosophy

As our world grows more populous, demand for resources increase.  So, too, does competition- even as the resources themselves become scarcer.  For these reasons, it’s more vital than ever to design buildings with high-performance in mind.  Omniplan is instilling sustainable concepts and innovative design strategies at every level of our company, and incorporating them into every building.  Our approach is flexible, intelligent, and performance-driven.

We are members of the US Green Building Council, and 26 members of our staff (more than half of the total) are LEED Accredited Professionals.  We set a LEED Silver level of design for every project that we do whether or not our clients request it (but always within budget parameters).  We do this for the same reason that we design any building to standards of life safety, structural soundness, and accessibility: to protect the health, safety and welfare of the facility’s future occupants.  We believe it is equally important to design a building that creates an uplifting built environment without damaging the natural one.

Our belief in sustainable design extends to the intensive training in thus subject that we offer to our staff.  We require attendance at these classes by all of our professional staff members.  The classes are designed to assist the student in preparing to take the LEED examination but a more important purpose in offering them is to educate the members of our firm in some of the critical issues facing our environment today.  Some of our LEED APs are enlisted as teachers and we also bring in outside experts to teach sections on energy and water related topics.
